Hot Brass Monkey
After over a decade of representing the band name and reputation of the group “Hot Brass Monkey”, former Band leader and original founding member “Jody Marlow”, no longer has the legal right to be associated with this group name.
One of the group’s former lead vocalists, somebody Jody personally introduced to the band, apparently thought it was a good idea to covertly apply for, and obtain the sole trademark ownership rights of the band name. A band name never intended to be owned by any one individual…
Fortunately we, like you, realize that the magic of our group has always been found more in the “Brass” than in any screaming monkey…>>>
A very valuable life/legal lesson has been learned through all of this…
As a result, we have evolved…>>>
Jody has redirected his reputation and positive attention toward his “new breed”, “No Monkey Business” group interest “The Brass Evolution”…>>> A name he now personally owns and protects for the quality value it represents…
(Who says you can’t teach an old Monkey new tricks ?)
Along with the name change comes a new positive energy that is being directed toward expanding the group’s true potential.
You will be delighted to find the band performing better than ever. Working together now since late 2008 with the original horn players in the Sick Puppy Horn Section … (What were the old HBM Horn section).
We have added more great “Classic Horn” based material, a South Florida friendly Latin appeal, better vocal representation, more musical diversity in general (Both Vocally and Instrumentally)…group size options, all performed by players inspired to be the best that we deserve to be, in a way that represents great quality and our best effort….
We will also be offering more in the way of newer material that best fits our group style…ie Dave Mathews…Michael Buble…John Mayer…Motown, etc… self promoted events, recording…more fun in general, and as usual, giving back when we can…>>>
Great music performed by great musicians who happen to be great people. Anything less would be an absolute insult to everything we have worked so hard for…>>>
Beware of anybody attempting to capitalize on what the past reputation of Hot Brass Monkey use to represent …It’s not what it use to be…The heart and vision of what helped make that reputation is now found here with “The Brass Evolution”>>>
Dirty business is not a game I am interested in playing…as if the music business isn’t already disrespectful enough…
We cannot thank you enough for the support you have offered us over the years. Your continual support will never go unnoticed or unappreciated…With out you in our mix of supportive fans, booking representation, and friends in general, we would only be a great group of players performing great material to nobody…
